TD SYNNEX has fired the starting gun on the race to upgrade thousands of customers who are currently using the vendor’s XG Series firewalls to the latest Sophos XGS Series solutions before the former range reaches End of Support (EoS) in March next year.

A series of communications are already going out to partners detailing the exclusive upgrade support offerings that are available only from TD SYNNEX. The team will also be running a webinar in early September and an in-person workshop will also take place that month at the TD SYNNEX Business in Solutions Centre (BSC) Bracknell. Details will be made available soon.
The campaign will focus on urging partners to talk to customers early and make plans for the upgrade well ahead of the EoS. Casey Phillips, Sophos business development manager, TD SYNNEX, said: ‘There is a huge customer base of XG Series customers who need to replace their hardware before the EoL, so this is a massive opportunity for Sophos hardware partners and we will be supporting them in taking full advantage. It’s important to start that process by talking to customers as soon as possible and that’s why we’ll be communicating with partners and holding the webinar and workshop in September. We want as many partners as possible to attend those events.’
Customers need to be aware that Sophos Firewall OS v20 is the last major release version that will include support for the XG hardware, and while licence renewals will be possible up to the EoL date of 31 March 2025, after that they will no longer be available.
The XG Series were launched in 2015 and while they’ve been improved with every release of the Sophos Firewall OS, the dual processor architecture and enhanced connectivity of XGS Series hardware provides additional and significant features and performance benefits, as well as much enhanced scalability and connectivity.
Partners should also be aware that, when purchased in combination with a three-year Xstream Protection subscription, discounts of up to 99% (subject to Ts&Cs) are available on new XGS Series hardware appliances.
