In summer 2025, TD SYNNEX signed a new pan-European agreement with leading lifecycle services provider, Cordon Group. This added further momentum the TD SYNNEX Renew programme – and TD SYNNNEX now wants more partners to get involved in driving lifecycle services, helping customers achieve their sustainability goals, and ensuring that IT equipment is recycled or refurbished in an ethical and environmentally-friendly way.

Sustainability matters

We’ve probably all got a few laptops and mobile phones gathering dust somewhere. It’s worth asking your customers whether they do as well. If they have got old kit just lying around, why not recycle or refurbish it? And perhaps even realise some value from it?

What are they going to do with it otherwise? They certainly won’t want to – and should not – send it all to landfill. Sustainability is something customers care about. Many organisations have environmental policies and zero-carbon goals, which they are sticking to for the long term.

Large organisations are already required to report on their emissions and energy usage, and all businesses will be expected to contribute to the achievement of the UK’s net-zero goal

Recycling and refurbishment have a huge role to play in the overall sustainability drive and while we have all been putting paper, cardboard, plastic, and glass into our local councils’ green bins and boxes for some time, old computer equipment and smartphones tend to get shoved into a cupboard and forgotten about. By working with TD SYNNEX, that’s something you can change.

How can TD SYNNEX help with device recycling and refurbishment?

The TD SYNNEX Renew programme enables reseller and retailer partners to offer end-user customers (business or consumer) a way to trade-in or take-back old or end-of life products for device refurbishment or recycling, with all components and materials disposed of properly and in line with recognised environmental standards. In addition, doing this potentially gives the customer some money back from their old IT equipment and devices, which they may be able to use on new systems and solutions.

With TD SYNNEX Renew everyone benefits – from an environmental and a financial perspective

On both counts, it’s an appealing proposition and one that is growing in popularity. In an average month, TD SYNNEX already takes more than 90,000 items for trade-in or refurbishment Europe-wide. That number is growing all the time and TD SYNNEX wants to encourage all its partners to get involved with lifecycle services, as Sophia Haywood-Atkinson, services director, UK and Ireland, TD SYNNEX explained.

‘We want everyone to be aware of what we are doing with TD SYNNEX Renew. The agreement we signed in summer 2025 with Cordon Group is a real landmark. It gives us the capability to offer an expanded suite of lifecycle services on more products, that not only enhance partner business opportunities, but also contribute to a more sustainable future. With TD SYNNEX Renew everyone benefits – from an environmental and a financial perspective.’

Whether devices are recycled or refurbished, there is an absolute assurance that all data will be securely wiped

What happens to the recycled kit?

Traded-in equipment can be recycled by Cordon or refurbished through its affiliate SLS, an accredited lifecycle service provider for second life solutions. Either way the end user customer gets an assurance of safe recycling of devices, accessories and components that complies with UK and European Environmental legislation, including the WEEE Regulations, and does not result in any pollution of the environment.

Importantly, they can also be sure that all data will be securely wiped from laptops, mobiles, or other devices.

The TD SYNNEX Renew concept is simple – and easy to use

How does TD SYNNEX Renew work?

It’s remarkably simple. First, you need to sign-up for TD SYNNEX Renew.

You can then log onto the TD SYNNEX Renew portal and create a quotation. Once accepted, the Cordon Group will handle the rest of the process, including free collection of the devices, final confirmation of value, payment to the customer, and the issuing of certificates to confirm data wiping and regulatory compliance. White-label and API options are being developed and should be available to partners next year.

The objective with all of these activities is to achieve zero waste with all IT equipment

Who does the recycling and refurbishment?

Cordon Group is a leading player in the manufacture, repair, refurbishment and recycling of electronic products. It handles all recycling, refurbishment, disposal of equipment, and data erasure, with zero waste assured at the end of the process.

Additional services now available

Our collaboration with Cordon Group means that we can provide lifecycle services on an expanded range of products, including smartphones, laptops, MacBooks, gaming consoles and other IT and comms products. We can also offer additional circular IT services, including certified data wipe, IT asset disposition (ITAD), refurbishment, technical repair, and onsite in-custody.
