The leading provider of open source solutions has announced Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, the latest version of the platform, designed to drive more consistent innovation across the open hybrid cloud, from bare metal servers to cloud providers and the farthest edge of enterprise networks.

Enterprise Linux 9 will support enterprise transformation while meeting evolving customer demands for greater automation and allow deployment of new initiatives without abandoning existing workloads or systems. It is expected to be available in the coming weeks.
According to a Red Hat-sponsored IDC study, the global Red Hat Enterprise Linux economy is forecast to exceed $13 trillion in 2022. This includes supporting the business activities of Red Hat customers, estimated to be worth $1.7 trillion in 2022.
Existing customers can migrate their Enterprise Linux subscriptions to the cloud of their choice and new customers can deploy the latest version on-demand from AWS, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
Key enhancements include comprehensive edge management, providing the ability to oversee and scale remote deployments with zero-touch provisioning, system health visibility and more responsive vulnerability mitigations, all from a single interface.
Another key addition is automatic container roll-back with Podman, Red Hat’s integrated container management technology. This automatically detects if a newly-updated container fails to start and subsequently rolls it back to the previous working version.
Also included is a new image builder service for the creation of customised file systems, major cloud providers and virtualisation technologies, including AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and VMware.
