Cloud technology is now synonymous with responding to business disruption. Due to this, more companies are investing in their cloud infrastructure and especially their hybrid cloud models.

A hybrid cloud environment is one which combines private cloud with third party public cloud services.

But like any IT environment if the incorrect planning and deployment isn’t used the results benefits of hybrid cloud adoption can be sub optimal – this is where Intel® can step in.

Intel® have broken this deployment into three key areas for consideration.

  1. Determine where to put your workloads

  2. Deploy an SDI to support your environment

  3. Choose Intel® to deliver high performance

Determine where to put your workloads:

Deciding on implementing a cloud strategy is one thing, optimising it is another. It is crucial to identify the business requirements you are targeting to determine workload placement.

Intel's Affinity Model launched in 2016 was used by 125 customers to see how to optimise their hybrid model. Below is a visual representation of their findings across public and private cloud.

Deploy an SDI to support your environment:

As data centres mature, enterprises are moving away from traditional IT models. Many are now looking to SDI (Software-Defined Infrastructure) to back up their networks.

SDI allows each application to scale across resources to meet workload demands. This can allow enterprises to reduce the number of standard server models in their data centre, reducing both CapEx and OpEx.

There are two preferred types of SDI in the market currently:

Converged Infrastructure

More integration needed but allows for easier management across single components. Individual components are added by the end user

Hyper-Converged Infrastructure

Abstracts compute, storage and networking via hypervisor. Components are pre-integrated and optimised in the appliance by the vendor

Either option depending on organisational needs is perfect to help optimise a journey to cloud adoption.

Choose Intel® to deliver high performance

Cloud strategy is critical but it isn’t a simple process, as such Intel® technologies are here to simplify this process working across all cloud environments and strategies.

  • Intel® Xeon® Processors enable the reduction in data centre footprint by replacing old systems with fewer new ones
  • Intel® Advanced Vector Extension 512 improves throughput for advanced analytics
  • Intel® QuickAssist Technology speeds up data compression and cryptography
  • Intel® Ethernet reduces overall system cost and power consumption whilst increasing latency

Not only their technology but key benefits of siding with Intel® are:

  • Simplified Evaluation: Eliminates guesswork through tightly specified SW/HW Components
  • Fast and Easy Deployment: Smooth deployment with pre-defined settings and system-wide tuning
  • Workload Optimised Performance: Designed and benchmarked for specific workloads to deliver optimised performance

Cloud computing as an IT strategy is now imperative for any organisation looking for flexibility, agility and performance. Hybrid Cloud offers all this and more if implemented correctly. With Intel® tech organisation can ensure any journey to cloud is simple and secure with Intel®'s high performance, reliable portfolio of solutions.
