There has been a significant shift towards sustainability amongst PC buyers, with ecolabels like EPEAT and TCO Certified becoming essential, according to data from market intelligence firm, CONTEXT.
► 82% of PCs sold in Q1 carried EPEAT Gold rating
► Close to half (48%) were TCO Certified
The firm says that in Europe's top five markets (the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain), the demand for greener PCs is undeniable. In Q1 2025, 82.5% of PCs sold through achieved the EPEAT Gold rating – up from 52% in Q1 2023. Approximately 48% of PCs sold in these key European countries during Q1 2025 carried the TCO Certified label.

CONTEXT said that the trend is being propelled by increasingly stringent public sector procurement requirements, which demand the use of certified sustainable products, growing corporate ESG commitments, and rising consumer awareness.
In some regions beyond Europe, adoption rates are even higher. Saudi Arabia stands out as a leader in embracing sustainable technology with an estimated 90% of PCs sold in the distribution market of the Kingdom in Q1 2025, EPEAT Gold rated, while eight out of ten were TCO Certified.
