According to one estimate, the extended reality market size is forecast to increase by $1040.6 billion at a CAGR of 56.45% between 2023 and 2028. It’s a huge opportunity that’s being driven by the tremendous potential the technology offers to enhance creativity and learning experiences and enable richer and more interactive remote meetings and collaboration.
► Teams Mesh feature helps to drive up engagement
► New partners being sought to address growing potential
Meetings and collaboration are one of the major areas of potential. The TD SYNNEX Endpoint Solutions leadership team recently decided to try out the Meta Quest 3 VR headset to experience using VR for meeting themselves. They used the headsets for a 30 minute period, with one participant joining remotely. They also ran through a presentation scenario inside the virtual environment.
After the virtual meeting, James Reed, managing director – endpoint solutions, said: ‘It’s a fantastic concept and great to get all of the team working together in an immersive environment. It was really impressive that one of the team was able to join remotely – and entirely seamlessly. I really liked the presentation setting at the end and could imagine that full of people.’
A key enabler here is the Mesh feature of Microsoft Teams, which makes the VR experience immersive. It’s been shown that Mesh can help to drive up engagement and that’s important because while many of us will have tried on a VR headset, few have experienced it in a real-world workplace scenario.
TD SYNNEX is ready to help partners get up and running with the Meta Work Partner Programme. This provides training and business development support, and assistance with installations where required.
