Modern WorkplacePublished 17th September 2021

There has been much talk about Windows 11 already, and Intel is now preparing to give performance a boost when it introduces its 12th Generation Alder Lake processors later this year. The firm has announced that its Thread Director technology will be embedded in the new CPUs

► Good news for systems designers – but builders still need to plan ahead

Intel Thread Director will boost Windows 11 performance

► GCC and Microsoft teams ready to answer your questions

Thread Director will deliver faster performance on Windows 11 systems by optimising the way that the cores of the CPU are structured by assigning workloads to the most appropriate or available resource at that time. It even takes factors such as temperature, operating conditions, and power setting into consideration.

The roll-out of Windows 11 will start later this year and while no specific date has been set for the release of 12th Generation family, the formal announcement is expected to take place in Q4, although the processors themselves may not be available right away and stocks may be limited at first. Systems builders and integrators that want to get hold of the new CPUs early are being advised to plan ahead and contact the TD SYNNEX Global Computing Components (GCC) team at the earliest possible stage.

You can message the GCC team by completing and submitting the form below. You should also complete the form if you have any questions you’d like answered by the TD SYNNEX Microsoft team on Windows 11.
