Partners that take Cradlepoint’s 5G and 4G solutions to market have a massive opportunity to benefit as businesses look to implement digital solutions ahead of the big switch-off of the PSTN network and the additional sunsetting of the 3G network in the UK.
► Later switch-off date means extended opportunity
► Vendor is offering double discounts on deal-reg until October
While the deadline for the PSTN switch-off has now been extended from the end of 2025 to January 2027, it’s an extra year in which partners have the opportunity to take the message about Cradlepoint out to their customers. The 3G switch-off meanwhile is gathering pace and many customers who are still using 3G devices in their network, such as USB dongles and older legacy 3G equipment, are not aware of the potential impact, said James Kenny, Cradlepoint business development manager.
‘The opportunity is huge and it’s become even bigger as a result of the PSTN switch-off moving out a year. Anyone that has a legacy network and is either not in a good location for fixed line connections or needs added mobility and flexibility, is a potential customer for Cradlepoint 5G and 4G solutions. In recent months, we’ve seen accelerated levels of interest and that’s only going to grow and grow.
Even if 5G is not available in your area, the Cradlepoint 5G devices will support 4G/LTE, so customers can future-proof their investment and make use of full 5G when it becomes available, he pointed out.
‘OK the deadline is now not as pressing as it was, but organisations that still depend on PSTN or 3G, are already primed and know they need to act. Even without the drive to update connectivity ahead of the switch-off, we are seeing good momentum with leading brands adopting Cradlepoint technology both for primary and secondary, backup connections. We’re seeing real traction now, so it’s a great time to be taking Cradlepoint to market.’
To meet the anticipated demand for fixed line and 3G replacements, Cradlepoint has recently launched a number of new products. These include a 5G device (the W1855) that gives customers a genuine cellular replacement option for PSTN and the S700 and R920(4G) devices, which are designed as 3G replacements.
All these options can be monitored and controlled remotely through Cradlepoint’s cloud based management system, NetCloud Manager. Partners can use the platform to improve service levels by ensuring high availability and faster response times through Cradlepoint’s Out of Band Management (OOBM) capabilities.
To encourage and support partners, the vendor is offering double discounts, from 5% to 10% additional margin for qualifying deals that partner registered throughout the summer, until the end of October 2024.
