UK enterprises spending close to £1 billion annually on green tech

UK enterprises are spending almost £1 billion on green technologies annually and organisations with 250+ employees using green technologies are spending on average £917,540 every year. Sustainability is a current priority for 79% of organisations and 84% said they were proud of their company’s commitment to green IT.

The figures come from a survey jointly commissioned by Auxilion and HPE and conducted by Censuswide. Other results found that 75% of IT decision makers consider sustainability key to business growth, and 76% see it as key to attracting and retaining talent, while 72% said it is a key differentiator when choosing a vendor.

A high proportion are already using AI to help achieve sustainability goals with 87% of IT decision makers saying they have already invested or are planning to invest in AI sustainability solutions for their business in the next 12-24 months. The data revealed an annual amount of £1,029,524 spent on AI sustainability solutions for those stating they have already invested or are planning to. In addition, 76% said that AI has a significant role to play in achieving sustainability targets.

The survey was conducted by Censuswide and involved 100 IT decision makers in enterprises with 250+ employees. It was carried out in February 2024.
