Cloud-based virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) has been one of the key drivers for the enterprise market over the last few years and now, with the release of Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD), Microsoft is bringing VDI to the SMB market for the first time.
- Excitement building fast as partners give enthusiastic response to release of Azure-based VDI solution
- Brings anytime, anywhere, any device capability to SMB and mid-sized businesses
- TD SYNNEX is enabling partners through series of activities and resources
In response, Microsoft partners are flooding TD SYNNEX’s CSP team with requests for more information and enablement resources, which they are working hard to deliver as quickly as possible.
Darren Climie-Newman, Microsoft Channel Development Manager at TD SYNNEX, said: ‘Until now. VDI has been seen as a fairly complex enterprise solution. Windows Virtual Desktop makes VDI simple, accessible and affordable to mid-sized and small business for the first time. It will scale from one user to thousands and it has an immediate and direct appeal to businesses that want to simplify their IT, make it secure and have access to all the productivity tools they need, anytime, anywhere and on any device.’
TD SYNNEX’s team has already started to make information available to partners and will be providing further downloadable material and a series of training courses, online events and other activities to help partners understand and address the opportunity with Windows Virtual Desktop and Azure.
To make use of the VDI solution, customers need to migrate to Microsoft 365, which as well as Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint, also includes advanced security. In addition, simplified licensing for Windows Virtual Desktop makes it easier to quote and bill for the solution.
