Panasonic targets defence sector with new TOUGHBOOK 40 mk2

Panasonic has announced the TOUGHBOOK 40 mk2, the first fully rugged Windows 11 Pro notebook to come with a full-HD touch 14-inch screen. Tested to military-grade standards, the mk2 also provides built-in AI capability and comes with WiFi-7 and 4G/5G options.

It is engineered from the ground up to be used on-the-go and in harsh environments, this new device is tested to the MILSTD810H military standard and is the first TOUGHBOOK that has a complete IP66 rating for water and dust ingress. It’s also built to withstand drops of up to 180cm (or nearly six feet) as well as knocks, vibrations and extreme temperatures, of between -29°C and +63°C.

The mk2 has a replaceable battery, storage and RAM, and four additional expansion areas. It also has an all-black exterior and a one touch Concealed Mode function, making it perfect for operations that require some stealth.

As with all Panasonic devices, design consistency will be maintained over time to ensure compatibility throughout the platform’s life cycle.
