Sales of Canon’s MegaTank range of devices with high-yield refillable cartridges are growing in popularity as more partners sell the benefits of these eco-friendly devices that are high on quality and low on TCO - and the company that created the first laser printer engine is also enjoying a revival with its fast office machines.
► Eco-friendly devices are growing in popularity
► Higher ASPs means higher margins on sales and ideal for TaaS
Canon recently announced the latest addition to the MegaTank family – the MAXIFY GX5050 is a great fit for smaller businesses that want Canon quality in a simple-to-manage, affordable shared office printer that is energy efficient and reduces waste. The print-only device provides great output at low cost and refillable ink bottles means there is no need for replacement cartridges.

While that means no after-sales, in practice most resellers don’t get this business anyway. Instead, the higher selling price of a MegaTank printer compared to a conventional inkjet delivers more up-front margin for the partner. They are also ideal for quoting under Tech-as-a-Service, allowing customers to spread the cost and invest in updating their estate right away.
Canon has also launched new multi-function colour lasers – also aimed at SMBs. The i-SENSYS MF572 and MF754 provide optimal productivity with fast output, direct cloud connectivity and ability to scan small documents such as cheques and receipts.
