Amazon has announced the availability of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud – an independent cloud infrastructure designed to meet the sovereignty needs of customers in European countries and provide a clear and simple alternative to keeping data on-premises.

► Operated by European entity and EU-based staff

► Whole infrastructure located within Europe

Prime targets for the service include the public sector and businesses in highly regulated industries who are facing increasingly complex requirements and growing concern over the storing of data in other regions. Available with a full set of AWS services, the European Sovereign Cloud is backed by strong technical controls, sovereign assurances, and legal protections.

AWS launches European Sovereign Cloud offerings

All components of the Sovereign Cloud infrastructure are located entirely within the EU and with redundant power and networking it can operate continuously even if connectivity with the rest of the world is interrupted. It meets the most stringent data residency requirements with all your content and settings remaining within the region selected by the customer. Technical controls prevent access from outside the EU.
