Microsoft has announced the general availability of Azure OpenAI Service giving more businesses the opportunity to apply for access to its AI models. Customers will also be able to access ChatGPT – a version of GPT-3.5 that has been trained and runs on Azure AI infrastructure.
► Release should see AI being incorporated into more apps
► OpenAI toolsets available to developers, ISV and partners
It’s hoped that the release will lead to many more apps and services incorporating AI functionality. The service will enable developers to use a number of AI models created by the OpenAI group (in which Microsoft is an investor). As well as GPT-3.5 these include the Codex, and DALL-E toolsets. Partners and ISVs will now be able to use these systems within their own apps.
Microsoft first announced the Azure OpenAI Service in November 2021, and it has since been used for various purposes including the generation of content that helps to match shoppers with the right purchases, to analyse and summarise customer service tickets. The technology is already by Microsoft itself in GitHub Copilot – an AI service for coders, and Power BI, which makes use of GPT-3 natural language models. The son-to-be released Microsoft Designer app makes use of the DALL-E 2 model to generate art from text prompts.
