TD SYNNEX is helping partners to become more sustainable by providing a net zero carbon (NZC) consultancy service. The service will assess a partner’s own emissions (Scope 1 and 2), and that of their supply chain (Scope 3). This is done using the globally accepted greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol. It will subsequently provide a plan detailing practical and actionable strategies to help the partner achieve net zero carbon emissions.

► New service helps partners drive sustainability and enhance business value

► Enables full assessment of Scopes 1,2 and 3 and guiding plans to reduce emissions

This new service compliments TD SYNNEX’s global corporate citizenship program, including its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework, which launched earlier this year. As part of this programme, the company has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2045.

The NZC service is being offered in partnership with specialist consultancy, Arete Zero Carbon. TD SYNNEX UK and Ireland has already worked with Arete to assess its own emissions and develop an action plan to move towards net zero in the region.

David Watts, managing director and senior vice president, UK and Ireland at TD SYNNEX, said: “We’ve launched the net zero carbon service because partners have been asking us what they can do about addressing their carbon footprint. We wanted to help them. At TD SYNNEX, we are doing everything we can to address our own emissions and move towards NZC. Partners want to do that too, but many don’t have the resources to commission a full analysis themselves. We have worked with Arete to come up with a service that is practical, scalable, and affordable. It will enable any partner business of any size to get a proper assessment of their Scopes 1, 2, and 3 and develop an actionable plan to reduce their emissions.”

Four service packages will be available – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold+ – providing partners with options that cover a basic evaluation and good understanding of its emissions, through to a complete assessment covering every detail of its carbon impact plus an Advanced Guide to net zero.

Partners need to act on NZC because customers are starting to ask them about it, he added. “As well as being the right thing to do, having a NZC plan makes business sense. End user customers are now asking their IT suppliers about their approach to sustainability, their carbon footprint, and NZC plans. Having a net zero strategy will add value to their business and support the building of long-term customer relationships.”

In support of the company’s global corporate citizenship program, TD SYNNEX UKI has been taking positive actions to work towards NZC. In November last year, Kevin Wragg was appointed as TD SYNNEX UKI’s first dedicated director of environment and quality compliance. He has worked closely with Arete in assessing TD SYNNEX UKI Scopes 1,2 and 3 emissions and formulating a reduction plan.

Separately, TD SYNNEX UKI will roll out ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS), later this year. Globally, TD SYNNEX has signed-up to the SBTi (Science Based Target initiative) Business Ambition Pledge. This encourages ambitious climate action and emissions reduction targets. Additional commitments include continuing to incorporate circular economy principles into TD SYNNEX’s product life cycle management strategy by partnering with stakeholders to minimize waste through repair, refurbishment and recycling. TD SYNNEX also reports its environmental sustainability performance through CDP.
