Lenovo: Building a smarter future for customers and the planet

Promoted Published 8th September 2022

Lenovo's ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) efforts go beyond the delivery of industry-leading technology to provide a smarter view of value for a more resilient future. As a result, they engineer solutions that minimise their carbon footprint and create devices that consume less energy.

What are the key 5 areas Lenovo will focus on?

  1. Sustainable packaging

Since 2008, Lenovo has eliminated more than 3,100 tonnes of packaging by weight by reducing waste and using sustainable materials. Lighter and bio-based packaging results in a 6.7% efficiency improvement in transportation co2 emissions.
  2. Energy conservation

Lenovo achieved a 92% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions during 2010 - 2020, exceeding their first-generation target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40%. By 2030, Lenovo aims to source 90% of its electricity from renewable sources and eliminate 1 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from its supply chain.
  3. Innovative use of recycled materials

Lenovo have declared that 100% of their PC products (excluding tablets and accessories) will contain materials made from post-consumer recycled content materials.
  4. Circular economy

By extending the lifespan of Lenovo products, it will reduce the amount of waste going to landfills and the need for raw materials. By 2025, Lenovo will have enabled the recycling and reuse of 800 million pounds of end-of-life products since 2005.
  5. Social impact

By 2025, the Lenovo Foundation will have benefited 5 million people world-wide and their products will be vetted by inclusive design experts to ensure they work for everyone, regardless of physical attributes or abilities.
