Hitachi Vantara has released Pentaho 8.2, the latest version of its data integration and analytics platform, providing new capabilities to seamlessly integrate structured and unstructured data across the Hitachi Vantara portfolio, including out-of-the-box integration with Hitachi’s object storage platform.
- Latest release of Pentaho integration and analytics software has specific benefits for healthcare and public services.
- Analytics capabilities can be used to determine best storage resource for data in hybrid environments.
It also enables customers to prepare, cleanse and normalise data within a hybrid environment, making it possible to make informed decisions about whether data should be stored on-premises or in a specific public cloud.
The Pentaho 8.2 release could have special significance for healthcare and public safety. For the former, it provides new ways to discover new drugs by blending patient data and medication history with unstructured MRI scans. In the latter, it will enable law enforcement agencies to combine video footage with crime reports, providing faster access to evidence and improved decision-making, while staying compliant with regulations.
Hitachi has also identified potential uses – which could be applicable to other sectors such as banking and retail – such as where there is a need to rapidly correlate transaction data with digital communication to meet compliance requirements, or to analyse individual preferences and footfall in specific areas using video footage and records of interaction with point-of-sale and other contact points.
