Addition of onsite warranty makes OpenMPS a complete end to end managed print service proposition for partners

TD SYNNEX has added an onsite warranty option with full monitoring of devices to its successful OpenMPS managed print services offering, expanding the scope of the offering and with installation and configuration also available, providing partners with an end-to-end services proposition they can take to their end-user customers.

► All popular makes of print device can be covered

► Provides remote monitoring for faults as well as when replacement ink or toner needed

► Installation and configuration also available

► New dashboard also shows when devices are near EoL

In addition, as well as a full view of the status of all their customers’ devices, an updated dashboard for OpenMPS now provides partners with advanced information on when printers or multi-function devices are nearing end of life, or the limits of their duty cycle. This gives partners an additional way to add value and engage customers on when printers should be upgraded and replaced.

With the move to hybrid working and the skills shortage, an onsite warranty option is something partners have been keen to see, and TD SYNNEX has been working on for some time, said Peter Lunn, senior category manager for managed print services. ‘With the extended warranty and monitoring added into OpenMSP, partners can take a complete managed services proposition to their customers. They can provide active monitoring and cover for device faults and failures, as well as automated replenishment of ink and toner.

‘With the option of installation services available as well, they can now offer a complete, end to end managed print service. It’s simple to understand, sell and manage and the ideal for partners that want to offer a managed print service without investing in setting up their own dedicated service and capability and all the investment and management overhead that requires.’

The OpenMPS Data Collection Agent (DCA) client software, which is installed on the customer’s system to provide monitoring, will detect faults and alert TD SYNNEX’s warranty services provider to the issue, allowing them to quickly identify and respond to any issues.

This is particularly important now that many customers are embracing hybrid working, Lunn added. ‘Home workers can’t call the IT department and ask them to come over and look at their printer. But if it’s important to your work, you want to know that you can get the device up and running again quickly in the event of a break-down. With IT skills in short supply, this is an option that is also going to appeal to any organisation that wants to take the burden off their internal IT team.’

In addition, OpenMPS will monitor for low ink or toner levels on devices and trigger direct shipments from TD SYNNEX, with partners invoiced for this on a monthly basis. Installation services are priced separately.

The OpenMPS warranty and monitoring services are available on all popular makes of print device, including HP, Epson, Canon and Xerox, for all of whom TD SYNNEX it a leading distributor in the UK, and other well-known manufacturers.

Of particular significance for Epson partners is the news that the vendor is now fully engaged in the OpenMPS programme, Lunn pointed out. TD SYNNEX can offer significant discounts on ink and toner replacement products for the printer vendors that represents, giving partners added margin potential.
