Microsoft has embedded its Copilot AI technology into its workplace productivity tools with the aim of saving users time writing up notes from meetings and identifying key themes and points from documents.
► AI and LLM technology is embedded into 365 apps
► Intelligently analyses and provides relevant and actionable insights
As well as now being an integral part of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and other apps, Copilot also comes with the Business Chat feature, which makes use of large language models (LLMs) to bring information together from meetings, emails and chat threads in a relevant and actionable way.
It will bring together data from different apps and documents to create summaries, draft emails, identify key dates or even create an outline project plan.
Key capabilities of Copilot in Microsoft apps:
- Word – writes, edits, summarizes and creates right alongside users as they work
- PowerPoint - turns ideas into a designed presentation through natural language commands
- Excel – helps unlock insights, identify trends or create professional-looking data visualisations in a fraction of the time
- Outlook – can help users manage their inbox and spend more time actually communicating
- Teams – provides real-time summaries and action items
- Power Platform – new capabilities within Power Apps and Power Virtual Agents will help developers of all skill levels accelerate and streamline development with low-code tools
Microsoft 365 Copilot is now being tested with a customer to get the critical feedback required to improve these models as they scale. Specifics on pricing and licensing will be shared soon.
