Figures from IDC show that the Western European enterprise wireless Lan market saw 77.1% year-on-year growth in Q4 of 2022, and 52.8% for the full year. This incredible performance was well ahead of the buoyant global picture for the sector, which saw the worldwide market rising 47.9% year over year to reach a highest-ever quarterly revenue of $3.35 billion. For the full year, enterprise wireless LAN sales grew 31.4% year-on-year, with revenues reaching $10.0 billion.
► European sales up 50% for the year compared to almost one third globally
► Wi-Fi 6 dominates but Wi-Fi 6 E sales are rising fast
Sales of Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E equipment saw the most growth with WiFi 6 -dependent access points up 36.8% in sequentially from 3Q22 to 4Q22; this product segment generated a huge 82.8% of all AP-dependent revenues. Meanwhile, Wi-Fi 6E revenues almost doubled from 3Q22 to 4Q22 to reach $209 million – that was just 7.2% of dependent AP sales, leaving plenty of room for growth as the newer standard is adopted more widely.
In addition to enterprises investing in the newest Wi-Fi standards, the continued easing of component shortages and supply chain disruptions were a big factor in the growth, said IDC. The results were published in IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Wireless LAN Tracker.
