Amazon is to experiment with a new form of solar-panel at its warehouse location in France as part of its goal to be running on 100% renewable energy by 2025.
►Lightweight solar panels can be installed in more places

►Technology is already in test phase with car makers
The solar technology comes from Apollo Power, which is based in Israel. The panels are lighter and thinner than others, so they can be installed in more places. Indeed, Apollo says that they can be used on aircraft or cars and is already working with Audi and Volkswagen. The panels are also to be tested in space.
Amazon will install the panels on a 50-square-metre area of pavement – which will continue to be used by walkers and cyclists – on the approach to one of its French warehouses. Apollo said it expects the project to be completed by the end of the year, though there was no guarantee it will succeed or that Apollo's system will be installed at other Amazon sites.
