Synology launches first six-bay NAS

Synology has launched a six-bay NAS equipped with a quad core processor, designed for use as a central file server for simplifying data management and protecting critical assets.

  • NAS device provides fast, scalable storage options for SMBs.
  • Supports up to 16 drives and dual SSD cache drives.

The compact DS1618+ comes with support for an M.2 SSD adapter card, allowing use of dual SSD cache drives for enhanced storage performance - and without using the 3.5-inch drive bays. It supports up to 16 drives with two Synology DX5173 expansion units, allowing easy scaling.

A 10GbE add-on card is also available for faster network connection and as well as a quad core processor, the unit has 4GB DDR4 memory (expandable up to 32GB). With Link Aggregation enabled, the DS1618+ can deliver outstanding sequential throughput of over 1,550 MB/s read performance and 580 MB/s writing.

It is also backed by Synology’s three-year limited warranty (with a five-year extension option).
