Put a spring in your first step to achieving net zero carbon

TD SYNNEX will be running its next Net Zero Academy course in mid-May, giving more partners the opportunity to learn how to set out their own plan to achieve net zero carbon emissions. The two-day, fully-accredited course covers all aspects of regulation and governance and shows delegates how they can set about measuring carbon emissions in their company and setting out and acting on plans to reduce them.

► Equips partners to set out and execute their own net zero plan

► Fully accredited by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment

The two on-site days of the three day course – organised in partnership with Arete Zero Carbon – will take place in Basingstoke on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 May. Attendees can complete the third day of instruction online at their own convenience. The course is fully accredited by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IMEA) and on completion, all delegates receive an official IEMA certificate.

The first course took place in February and was extremely well-received. One partner who attended said: ‘What I found particularly useful was just understanding where the regulations have got to and what practical steps we can take as a business to get to net zero. Companies that want to make a difference need to know what to do and how to do it – and the best way to achieve that before the 2050 deadline. I am looking forward to getting the full action plan in place and getting some real momentum with the team.’

The course covers fundamentals of net zero, including policy and regulation, governance and accountability, and how to build a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory. It also covers established principles and definitions set out by the GHG protocol for scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions. Partners are taught how to identify and record emissions factors and activity data, and how to develop a Net Zero Decarbonisation Plan with defined targets and reporting.

It also outlines how partners can apply for Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) accreditation and examines options for decarbonisation in areas such as purchasing, transport, waste, and buildings, as well as best practice and recommendations for carbon offsetting.
