A start-up created by ex-Apple employees has demonstrated a small, wearable AI device that can act as a live translator and project images into surfaces in front of the user. The Humane AI projector can be used stand-alone, without being paired to a mobile phone or any other device.
► Clip-on device can be used stand-alone
► Projects information onto nearby surfaces – including hands
► Can be used for real-time translation
Worn as a clip-on it is designed to perform simple tasks such as projecting summaries of emails and SMS messages, but it also has a built-in camera and can also be used to identify objects, project a screen onto a nearby surface or even perform a live translation for users. It will also support gestured commands, according to a report by Axios.

The devices were revealed at a recent TED Talk by former Apple employees Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, who have formed the start-up, Humane. Reports said that during the demo, Chaudhri used the Humane AI device to translate his own speech from English to French. He also reportedly took a call from his wife, with the information projected onto his hand.
The company has promised to provide more details over the next few months.
