The 9370 is the latest version of Dell’s XPS 13 flagship and takes professional mobility to a higher level by delivering everything business users could ask for in a Windows 10 notebook.
The Dell XPS 13 is probably one of the most impressive notebooks we have seen – and we have seen quite a lot. It is fast, has a great spec’, a tiny screen bezel and a vibrant, crisp display. It’s almost unbelievably small for a 13-inch device. If you want an Ultrabook for everyday business use, you won’t get anything superior to this on the market today.
The XPS 13 is not completely new of course – but the 9370 is the updated model for 2018. The earlier XPS 13 models set the bar for no-compromises business notebooks and this version of the XPS 13 Dell has jumped even higher.
Close to the edge
We are pretty sure that the XPS 13 9370 is the smallest 13-inch laptop you can buy today. (For the record it is 11.6 mm thick, 302mm wide and 199mm deep). This is due to the 13-3-inch screen being fitted inside bezels that are just 4mm wide. These are even more diminutive than on the previous model (which had 5.66mm bezels), which means this version is smaller. It is also thinner and lighter, so in every respect, it goes further. The basic standard weight is 1.27Kg, which is very impressive and as light as just about any Ultrabook on the market right now.
Inside the system there is a choice of 8th-gen’ Intel quad-core i5 or i7 processors, between 8GB and 16GB RAM, up to 1TB SSD and it has Intel UHD Graphics 620 as standard. For a business-focused notebook, the display is stunning. It offers super-sharp 4K Ultra HD with a resolution of up to 3840 x 2160; there is also a non-touch-sensitive 1920 x 1080 Full HD option with the lower-spec i5 model.
The XPS 13 9370 has an excellent back-lit keyboard with a nice, tactile feel and well-spaced keys for such a small notebook. The Windows Precision trackpad is responsive and accurate. These are important details that make a real difference when the system is in every-day use.
Good connections
When it comes to port options, Dell has got a lot into this device. There are three USB Type-C ports (any can be used to charge the XPS 13), two of which are also Thunderbolt 3 compatible, so they can be used for power delivery as well. There is a headphone jack and a microSD card slot too. Dell has also thought to provide a USB-C to USB-A adapter in the box with the XPS 13 9370, so you can use legacy peripherals as well.
The 720p web camera on this XPS 13 is centrally-positioned (unusually, it sits below the screen) and supports Windows Hello face recognition. It has stereo speakers and a dual array microphone too, so everything a business user needs in a Windows 10 Ultrabook is there. The silver and black colour scheme is appropriately professional, and the build quality of this system is very good indeed. In every respect, it looks and feels the business.
It feels like there should be more to say about the Dell XPS 13. For business users, it is excellent in every important aspect. Powerful, light, remarkably small and with a great display for every-day use, it’s simply the best choice for the uncompromising professional user.
