While the global shortage of memory and components over the past year has threatened to bring parts of the industry to a grinding halt, the TD SYNNEX Global Computing Components (GCC) team has continued to invest in its capabilities to deliver enhanced support, helping partners maintain supply and drive business growth.

As shortages began to build, rather than waiting for the storm to pass, TD SYNNEX GCC expanded its team, added new product lines and strengthened its ability to support partner demand. This proactive approach ensures it has everything in place to meet partner needs, said Jodie Alliston, senior sales manager, UK and Ireland, GCC.
‘Over the past 12 months, it has been a real challenge for partners to source the products they need prices that will be acceptable to their end-user customers. We recognised that they needed more help and support and have taken the opportunity to expand our team and our range. We’ve given them additional options and worked hard to always keep them informed of how the situation is changing, which in turn has allowed them to manage expectations and look after their end-user customers’.
‘Alongside expanding the team - with GCC UK&I now at 20 people, including seven new starters this year - the team has intensified its focus on forecasting. This has made a huge difference, said Gary Warner, business development manager, GCC. ‘We have worked very closely with partners to look at their needs going forward. We’ve pooled that information and subsequently gone to our vendor partners to make sure we secured adequate inventory of key products. That’s really helped us and our partners.’
This is the essence of the value GCC adds and the difference it makes to partners, said Jodie. ‘We’ve worked to get the products they need, when they need them, so that when the opportunities arise, they have the best chance of taking those opportunities.’ The success of this approach is evident in GCC’s growth, with TD SYNNEX increasing its components market share and doubling sales year-on-year.
The GCC team has also worked closely with other TD SYNNEX business units - particularly Advanced Solutions - to ensure partners have access not only to the products they need, but also to the technical skills and consultancy available across both teams and multiple vendor solutions.
