Dedicated AI acceleration support will help users embrace new experiences and enhance efficiency in work and play, including capabilities enabled by Copilot in Windows. The laptops are amongst the first ‘driving an AI PC revolution that will fundamentally change how people create, collaborate, and interact with PCs’ said Lenovo.

The new devices come with Intel Core Ultra processors and have three compute engines - a CPU, GPU and an NPU (neural processing unit) that can handle AI PC tasks efficiently and smartly. By offloading compute tasks to the NPU and/or GPU, efficiency and both performance and power management are improved.

Characteristics like text predictions, background blur, meeting transcripts, and summary emails improve productivity, while digital content tools maximise creativity without impacting overall system performance. With Copilot in Windows, everyday tasks are made easier.

As well as a better user experiences, the new devices continue to improve Lenovo’s contribution to a circular economy. The company has been working on the development of supply chains, services, product design, and materials and shifting to a circular model of ‘design, use, return. With these latest ThinkPad X1s, Lenovo continues to adopt the use of recycled materials, PCC (post-consumer recycled content) plastics and plastic-free bamboo and sugarcane packaging, to minimise the use of virgin materials. Lenovo has been working with Toray Industries, who supplying recycled carbon fibre material recovered from composites used in Boeing 787 wing production for use in the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12.
