► First ‘hybrid’ event run by TD SYNNEX

The Elevate with Accelerate event was a showcase of all the capabilities and resources that the TD SYNNEX HPE team has in place to assist HPE partners in growing their business. It took place at The Cinema in The Power Station – the new luxury film theatre within the Turbine Hall of the iconic building.

The event made good use of the venue with presentations being delivered as a mix of on-screen film footage and live, interactive sessions. Indeed, it was the first hybrid event that TD SYNNEX had organised. The day was hosted by Andrew Stuart, HPE business unit director, along with other key members of the team. One of the first guests to join him on stage for the live session was Simon Bennett, managing director, UK&I, Advanced Solutions, who used the history of the venue as a metaphor to illustrate how partners need to evolve.

‘Battersea Power Station was built in 1929 and shut down in 1983. This was such a modern facility back in the 1930s, but it just did not move with the times. It then languished for 40 years until that they started the redevelopment in 2012 –and it made me think about the evolution of the market. Making the right investments and evolving when the time is right is important. If you do not do that, your business won’t be as healthy as it could be and that’s what happened here. It didn’t evolve and it almost didn’t come back.’

Linda Patterson, group marketing director also made an appearance and there were also talks with key people from HPE, including Matt Armstrong-Barnes, CTO – AI at HPE, Matt Valentine, VP compute BU and digital sales UKIMEA, and Simon Wilson, CTO, UK&I, HPE Aruba.

There was also a session with Tim Cripps, managing director of HPE storage specialist partner, Trustco, and with Simoda, another HPE partner that works closely with the TD SYNNEX team on HPE business development, featuring managing director Dan Brumby and technical solutions director, Lee Wragg. These partners spoke about the different ways in which the HPE team at TD SYNNEX helps them to deliver HPE solutions.

During the day there were recaps on the amazing events and promotions that the Accelerate team organised throughout the past the year, including the ‘Tea and Tech’ webinars with key member of HPE’s storage team from all over the globe, the four-venue Lakes Tour that focused on the new HPE GreenLake proposition and the Road to the Ryder Cup promotion, which saw a number of partners visit Rome during the famous Europe v US gold contest. HPE Aruba provided the extensive WiFi coverage for the course, which involved using more than 800 access points.

The day concluded with TD SYNNEX’s HPE Accelerate awards with BYTES Technology Group being named Strategic Growth Partner of the Year, ITEC IT Services the High Growth Technology Partner of the Year award, and Simoda taking home the accolade of Accelerate Partner of the Year.

After the presentations, delegates were given the chance to ascend from the power station’s magnificent art deco Turbine Hall A to the top of the north-west chimney in the unique Lift 109 experience.

Andrew Stewart said that it had been a tremendous success in every regard. ‘With this event, we wanted to bring to life the technologies and the services we offer. It is all about the power of us, the power of the partnerships and winning together. There is opportunity and there is growth out there and when you win, you win better as a team. It’s all about togetherness and being fearless and moving forward and we want more HPE partners to come and be a part of that.’
